  Skardu town is a commercial hub and administrative headquarter of the Baltistan region. On the north, it is bounded by Indus River and Karakoram rang south by Sad Para valley, SadPara Dam and Deosai mountain range, east by Hussain-abad and West by Shangri-La resort respectively.

The town linked by air and land. PIA operates subject to weather flights from Islamabad.

           Balti is the lingua franca of the town, Urdu is understood and English is spoken by the educated people.
